Drumchork Lodge has one of the largest collections of malt whiskies in the world – over 500 single malts spread over the two bars. So much so that in 2003 the hotel was named by the Scotch Whisky industry as having the second best malt whisky bar in the world, and the very best which is open non-residents of a hotel.

John and Frances regularly attend International Whisky Festivals. Such is John’s reputation now as a whisky connoisseur, if he is not competing you may well find him judging! Back at the hotel, whisky tastings are a regular event, and prove extremely popular with both other whisky connoisseurs and novices.

John's whisky tasting events have become extremely popular and a well known feature of the Hotel

With 80 distilleries in Scotland from small independents like Ben Romach at Forres to the better known names like Glenfarclas and Glenmorangie, all producing mainly 10 – 18 year old malts, the range, especially to a novice, is astonishing, and they can nearly all be found at ”Uisge Beatha” – “the Highland Home of Malt Whisky” in Aultbea, Wester Ross – the jewel in Scotland’s malt whisky crown. In addition to Drumchork’s superb collection of original Scottish malts, the Uisge Beatha also has a fine selection of:
